Title I Virtual Meeting
Thank you to all the families who joined us for the Title I Virtual Meeting on November 22, 2024. For those who could not attend or would like to review the information discussed, we have uploaded the meeting slides in PDF format.
We appreciate your ongoing support and partnership in your child's education. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
Wizard Families,
Some teachers have already begun sharing Common Assessment results with students. After the holiday break, please make sure you are checking in with your child about their Common Assessment results. We have 3 weeks remaining for students to gain even more momentum before the longer winter break.
Thanks to all families who joined our annual Title I Meetings this week! You can find the slides and family compact below
As you spend this holiday with your loved ones, please make sure you are keeping an eye on your child's phone, internet, and social media usage. We continue to see a societal trend in increased anxiety, overwhelm, and other mental health concerns for students spending significant time on social media. This break is an opportunity for you to reset some boundaries at home and encourage more connection within the family.
We hope you and yours have a wonderful and safe break, and a Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate.
Ms. Ryans
Here's a quick refresher on our attendance guidelines to ensure that all students start each day ready for success.
Our school day begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. Students who arrive by 8:25 a.m. have plenty of time to settle into homeroom. Please note that late arrivals will be marked as absent for homeroom, and you’ll receive an automatic call so you’re aware. Attendance, including advisory, is also taken within the first 5 minutes of each class, so arriving on time is essential to keep those absences clear.
To support your student’s success, here are some quick tips:
- Arrive early: Getting to school by 8:25 a.m. gives students a smooth start.
- Discuss the value of punctuality: Every class matters, and showing up on time not only sets the tone for a positive, productive day but also significantly contributes to your child's academic success.
- Excused absences: If your student has a legitimate absence, please submit a parent note or medical excuse to Mrs. Longoria.
- Addressing errors: If there’s an attendance discrepancy, contact your student’s teacher directly, who can submit an attendance correction form on their behalf.
Incentives for Staying on Track: Being punctual helps students academically and prevents demerits. Here’s how we handle late arrivals:
- Three demerits in two weeks = lunch detention.
- Six demerits = afterschool detention.
- Nine demerits = parent meeting and a customized support plan.
Absences and Academic Progress: Consistent attendance makes a world of difference! Missing several days can make keeping up challenging, so we’re here to help students stay on top of things. For high schoolers, credit recovery options are available to keep them on track for graduation if absences in a specific class reach nine or more.
Our attendance committee is here to provide support and will connect with families to offer guidance when needed. Frequent absences may require a truancy process, which includes attendance letters and check-ins.
Thank you for partnering with us to create a successful year for your students! Your support is invaluable and makes all the difference in helping them thrive.
