Reaching attendance goals!

With the new year, it’s the perfect time to reset our goals, including ensuring consistent school attendance. As a reminder, every school day counts toward your child’s success!

Let’s make attendance a priority this semester by:

  • Setting morning routines for smooth school days.
  • Communicating with the school about any challenges.
  • Encouraging your child’s commitment to learning and growth.

Together, we can help your child reach their full academic potential. Thank you for your partnership in making this year a success for your child(ren). Here’s to a fantastic spring semester!

NEW! Extended Learning Activities

Starting the week of January 21, all STAAR and Seminar courses will offer Extended Learning activities designed to help students strengthen their skills and achieve their goals.

What is Extended Learning?

Extended Learning provides students with opportunities to practice and grow through:

  • Work completed in class
  • Advisory sessions
  • Tutorials
  • At-home practice

All Extended Learning assignments are graded, ensuring students are recognized for their effort and progress.

Tools to Support Success

Students will use platforms like IXL and SAT/TSIA2 Khan Academy for targeted practice. Progress will be tracked, and students’ hard work will be rewarded! Please see the image below for course specific assignment information.

Campus Late Policy

To support accountability and maintain clear expectations, our late work policy is as follows:

  • A 5% penalty per day will be applied to late assignments, up to one week.
  • Assignments turned in after one week will receive a maximum grade of 50%.
  • Extensions will be granted for valid reasons, such as emergencies or excused absences.
  • Students must proactively request an extension via email to ensure compliance with the late policy.
  • Additional information will be published on ParentSquare by our Director Of Academics, Mrs. Schumacher

If you have any questions or need more information, feel free to reach out to your student’s teacher or campus staff.

Thank you for partnering with us in your child’s educational journey!

Important Attendance Policy Reminder for Families

As we approach the end of the first semester, we want to remind you about an important update to our Student Handbook approved earlier this year. To promote consistent attendance and student success, the handbook now states that exceeding 10% unexcused absences in a semester (9 or more) in any course will result in a loss of course credit.

What This Means:

  • After semester report cards are processed, our School Culture Team (including the Dean of Students, Director of Student Support, Student Support Counselors, and Grade Level Chairs) will review a report of students with 9 or more unexcused absences in any course.
  • For high school students, courses with 9 or more unexcused absences will be marked as "NG" (No Grade) on both report cards and transcripts by the campus Registrar in Skyward.
  • Credit for these courses will be denied until the student completes attendance recovery.

Attendance Recovery Details:

  • Students will have the opportunity to reinstate their course credit by completing attendance recovery hours (32 required hours) through the following ways:
    • Volunteering for school wide events, signed off by member of campus administration.
    • Assisting in Tutoring Middle School Students, signed off by member of campus administration.
    • Seat time on campus, signed off by member of campus administration.
    • Community service hours on campus, signed off by member of campus administration.
  • Attendance recovery hours will begin on February 17th. More information will be shared prior to the launch of the attendance recovery. Families of students who meet the 9+ absence criteria will be contacted directly with additional details.

We know the success of your student is important to you, and regular attendance is a critical part of achieving their goals. If you have any questions about your student’s attendance record, please contact your school’s Registrar or School Culture Team.
