We have made the difficult decision to cancel the dance that was scheduled for Saturday January 28th, 2023. Students have been issued refunds. Thank you for your understanding and if you have any questions please reach out to Ms. Briz, Nahaira.briz@yesprep.org or Dr. Ingram, Danielle.ingram@yesprep.org

Greetings Wizard Families,

We hope that you and your families are safe and well after this week's severe storms and tornado. We know that the areas surrounding our campus community experienced significant damage, and we want to make sure you have the support you need if you were impacted. Please fill out a SAF, or Student Assistance Form, if you need to be connected with resources. Our Student Support Counselors (Ms. Daniel for High School, Ms. Fernandez for Middle School) receive those submissions and will reach out to you as soon as possible to provide support. Here is the link to the Student Assistance Form: SAF.

As you are likely aware, we needed to Shelter In Place during the Tornado Warning in our area on Tuesday. I wanted to take the opportunity to remind everyone about our emergency response procedures. We definitely understand the desire to pick up your students early in the event of a severe weather event.

First, it is important for me to share that any changes to the school day and our operating hours will first be communicated by YES Prep Public Schools. We await guidance from our Home Office, and they will be the first to send communication to you. Your children may be texting or calling to tell you that school is cancelled, but if you have not received this communication from the Home Office, it is highly likely that it is incorrect.

Second, when it comes to early pick up, it is important for me to share that we will go as quickly as we can, but as slowly as we must. If there is not a cancellation of the school day, we must still check-out each student individually and ensure that anyone picking them up shows proper identification. This ensures the safety of your children.

Finally, if you are arriving to campus or are on campus when we are in a drill or in a real state of emergency, as we were on Tuesday, it is our expectation that all building occupants follow our directions as we work to implement our safety procedures. We are trained to execute our safety procedures, and we practice them regularly. Please prepare to follow the directions of our leaders and safety and security team if you are on campus in the event of a drill or emergency. We understand this can feel challenging, but we must prioritize the safety of all students in situations like these.

If you have any questions about safety and security, please feel free to connect with a member of the Operations Team or with me. You will also begin to receive communication from our campus operations team when we do conduct a drill so that you are aware of our routines and procedures.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend,

Ms. Ryans
